General Counsel / Local Counsel Services

General Counsel

Trokie Landau LLP provides outside general counsel services for its corporate and business clients that do not need a full time in-house counsel but require a more constant and involved presence. We first take the time to learn about our clients' businesses and business specific needs and goals. Then, we help them make the best and most practical business decisions, by informing our clients of the legal ramifications of those decisions. Our general counsel services include:

  • Litigation risk management and coordination of litigation and bankruptcy counsel on a nationwide basis.
  • Creation of business documents including shareholder agreements, non-disclosure/non-compete agreements, security agreements (and related UCC filings) and other documents related the client's specific business operations and management.
  • Representation of clients in commercial leasing and real estate development acquisitions and sale transactions, including expertise as to related environmental issues.

Local Counsel

Trokie Landau serves on occasion as local counsel representing clients that have been sued or that need to file lawsuits in New York or Connecticut and to assist clients’ primary counsel who needs local counsel assistance in these jurisdictions. The firm’s litigators are admitted to the state courts of New York, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania and in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, as well as the United States Courts of Appeal for the Second and Third Circuit. Trokie Landau can assist out-of-state counsel and their clients in different ways, depending on their needs, from the filing of pro hac vice motions, to advice and counseling on the nuances of local practice, procedure, legislation, regulations, case law, and judicial rules, to the issuance of subpoenas, or motions in aid of discovery, and jurisdictional motions and the domestication of foreign judgments. Once retained as local counsel, Trokie Landau works closely with the client’s primary counsel to help determine the best, most efficient, and cost effective route to pursue to meet the client’s needs.
